About this Tool

This is an action tracking tool to help your campus align with the new Post-Secondary Student Mental Health Standard. It is a practical way to collaboratively document and assess your institution’s implementation of the Standard over time. Ultimately, the Tracker’s goal is to guide and support the process of implementing your organization’s student mental health plan or framework, in alignment with the Post-Secondary Student Mental Health Standard.

Readiness Checklist

Is your campus ready to use the Tracker?

Use this checklist to determine if your campus is ready to use the Campus Mental Health Action Tracker. Has your campus…

1. Downloaded and reviewed the Standard?
2. Downloaded and reviewed the Starter Kit for the Standard?
3. Selected a dedicated and skilled Project Leader to lead the work with the Standard?

As recommended by the Starter Kit:

“While this work will involve many people over time, having a single person lead the process will help it remain a priority” (p. 8).

“When choosing someone to lead the process, look for expertise in project management and implementation science. Knowledge of mental health is also important, but ideally you’ll want a leader with a good mix of post-secondary experience and project skills” (p. 9).

4. Identified key stakeholder groups to participate in this process?

As recommended by the Starter Kit:

“Involve representatives from any stakeholder group that will be impacted by the Standard, including students, faculty, and staff — not only in upfront consultations, but as active participants and contributors all the way through” (p. 8).

5. Developed an awareness and understanding of key campus issues related to student mental health & wellbeing?

As recommended by the Starter Kit:

Develop “a clearer sense of your current situation — what’s unique to your institution, the mental health and well-being of your students, and other factors” (p. 11).

6. Gathered information about your current student mental health and wellbeing policies, services, resources, programs, and student outcomes?

As recommended by the Starter Kit:

“Review your current policies…, gather data,” and think about the experiences of students (p. 11).
